Updated programme of events: May - mid-summer 2010
Other projects are still being planned and the following list will be updated on
the Chiltern U3A website and in subsequent Newsletters. Those events marked with
an asterisk (*) are group activities primarily organised for group members.
Other members interested should consult the convenor.
| 11 May* | The Readers groups have arranged a talk by Sarah Harrison, a well known local novelist, entitled ‘You couldn’t make it up’. Members and friends are welcome for this special open meeting. Tickets and details from Mavis Turl or other reader group convenors |
| 18 May* | A joint meeting of Pilates and Tai Chi groups. Gather at 11:10 at the Drake Hall. If weather permits members will move to the Field for some exercises and a session each of Pilates and Tai Chi, after which we hope those who have brought food and drink with them will picnic on the Field. In case of wet weather we shall stay in the Drake Hall for the whole session, and, as the Hall will be needed by another Group at 12:45, the picnic will not really be possible. Whatever the weather, do please bring a mat and/or a rug. We hope all interested members of Chiltern U3A will come and see our Groups in action, and, hopefully, will join in for a bit of fun. |
| 3 and 16 June: | Two special General Meetings with speakers on the subject of “Passports, Assassins, Traitors and Spies” and “Great American Tunesmiths of the 20th Century” respectively; the latter to accompanying music. Summer fruits will be served with refreshments after each meeting. |
| 10 June* | Local History Group 1 will return to the Henley Rowing Museum, the venue of their first outdoor visit, to be followed by a cruise on the River Thames. Other members are welcome. |
| 2 July* | A ‘pool party’ at Chesham’s open air swimming pool on the Moor. To join in this special gathering, please contact the Swimming group convenor. |
