May Meeting

This meeting established the new Committee for the forthcoming year and confirmed the co-option of Dot Hammond and Maureen Mason as Committee members each with a right to vote on Committee matters. A Working Group comprising the Chairman, Gordon Barratt, Peter Heilbrunn, Nigel Lanning and Terri Riley was also put in place with the power to co=opt other members if and when necessary.  The Committee decided to revue the waiting list in January 2011.

June Meeting

The Committee noted with approval the progress of the proposed activity groups. The Railway Appreciation group and the Film Appreciation Group both had inaugural meetings and had got off to a flying start.  Computers for Beginners, Computers for Improvers, Golf and Ornithology 2 all have convenors in place but Convenors were still being sought for Spanish, Latin and Writing for Fun.  An Advanced Table Tennis Group has also been formed.  Revised Guidelines for convenors are being updated and will be available at the Convenors Meeting on the 8th July for those attending or by post for those unable to attend.  In view of our U3A’s increased usage of the Barn Hall and the likelihood of this increasing even further, the Committee noted the progress which had been made in identifying what was needed to upgrade the technical facilities in the Barn Hall to a level similar to that enjoyed in the Pottery Room

July Meeting

The Committee was informed that a new format for the Calendar had been developed on Forum which now covers other venues in addition to the Pottery Room.  The Committee also noted that some of the larger Activity Groups had arranged to meet in the Large Barn Hall rather than the Pottery Room.  The Treasurer presented the quarterly accounts vs budget and the Committee noted that these were in line with expectations.   It was reported that further work needs to b e carried out to determine the equipment required for the Large Barn Hall upgrade.
