We attempt to speak only in French in order to improve the spoken language, having an open conversation to allow us all to get to know each other, with an emphasis on giving everyone a chance to speak without any pressure. We discuss all things French including French tv programs/films, books or articles. Our recent topics included recent technology advances (Meta glasses), Spanish architecture and traditions, wars past and present, borrowed words in French language and influence of ‘Americanisms’, deep fakes appearing in the news and our everyday lives, depiction of religious scenes in famous paintings, celebrations of various holidays in France, closure and restructuring of book shops in France. We also covered some of French grammar and idioms and even attempted to solve French crosswords. We welcome ideas and contributions to discussions from all the members of the group. We meet on the first Friday of the month at 14.00 in the Lounge. At present we have vacancies in our group.
